Arranging electricity, gas, water and internet a week or two ahead avoids a dark first night and rushed decisions.
Steps
- Ask the landlord which utilities you pay and which companies serve the building
- Call or go online to start service from your move-in date
- Ask about deposits; some are waived with good credit or a letter from a previous utility
- Compare internet plans and ask for the price after any promotion ends
- Photograph meter readings on move-in day
